Editorial Policy

Last updated: February 2026

AnnuityJournal.org is an independent financial media publication focused on annuity education, research, and rate transparency. Our editorial team operates separately from our business operations. We do not let commercial relationships influence our coverage, ratings, or recommendations.

Our Mission

We exist to help Americans — particularly those approaching or in retirement — understand annuities clearly and make informed decisions. That means presenting accurate, unbiased information even when it’s unflattering to the products or carriers we cover.

Editorial Independence

Our editors and writers set the editorial agenda. Advertisers, carriers, and distribution partners have no input into which products we recommend, how we rate carriers, or what content we publish. Paid placements are always clearly labeled as sponsored content and kept separate from editorial coverage.

How We Make Money

AnnuityJournal.org generates revenue through display advertising, affiliate relationships with licensed insurance agencies, and sponsored content partnerships. When you click certain links and request a quote or purchase a product, we may receive a referral fee. This never affects our editorial ratings or recommendations.

Sponsored content is always labeled “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” and is subject to the same factual accuracy standards as our editorial content.

How We Research and Write

Every article on AnnuityJournal.org is researched using primary sources: carrier rate sheets, NAIC filings, state insurance department data, and peer-reviewed financial research. We cite our sources and link to original data wherever possible.

Our writers and editors are not licensed insurance agents and do not sell annuity products. All content is for educational purposes only and does not constitute financial, tax, or legal advice.

Rate Data

Annuity rates displayed on this site are sourced from AnnuityRateWatch, an independent rate aggregation service. Rates shown are representative and subject to change without notice. Always confirm current rates directly with the carrier or a licensed agent before making any purchase decision.

Carrier Reviews and Ratings

Our carrier reviews are based on publicly available financial strength ratings (AM Best, S&P, Moody’s), product competitiveness, surrender charge terms, customer complaint data from state insurance departments, and independent analysis. Carriers are not able to pay for favorable reviews or higher ratings. We update reviews when material information changes.

Corrections Policy

When we make factual errors, we correct them promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted at the top of the affected article with the date of correction. We do not silently edit published articles to remove errors without disclosure.

Who We Are

AnnuityJournal.org is owned and operated independently. We are not affiliated with any insurance carrier, broker-dealer, or financial institution. Our editorial team includes writers and researchers with backgrounds in personal finance, insurance, and retirement planning.
